South America Travel Experiences & Reviews

Dear Gabriela,

What an incredible and memorable Chilean adventure I had. Thank you for working with me and shaping this lovely experience for me. I was very impressed by how smooth the process was, all transfers and tours. And had really great support from Pablo while in Chile.

It was great to get tips on what to do the day I had first reached Santiago; and I did end up exploring the city on my own a little. I had visited the (Alice in) Wonderland cafe and had dinner at the Peumayen restaurant. I’ll highly recommend both spots.

The walking tour was amazing the following day along with Martina, and we had a great time. She was able to take some of interests into consideration and tailored our day accordingly. So I was able to do the funicular railway to San Cristóbal Hill, and Los Dominicos heritage market. We met a number of amazing people along our day trip and I was instantly in love with Santiago and Chile. After our goodbyes, I was able to do to the Pre-Columbian museum and later Pablo Neruda’s home/museum on my own.

It was a rich experience to start off in Santiago, then Atacama was pretty impressive. I enjoyed the hike to the moon valley, El Tatio geysers and the astronomical tour. I did sip on some coca tea like the locals to help adjust with the elevation. It was nice to rest in the hotel prior to my flight back to Santiago. I strolled around the market and shopped a bit in the market.

Funny thing I can share with you is that my nails were the exact color of Lapis Lazuli stone, and my hair (got a cut/color in jan before my travel – where I went back to black hair with blue peekaboo highlights) matched many chileans i spotted across the country. It is like I was primed for the trip lol. Needless to say I got some Lapis Lazuli to take back home 🙂

I did wish I had more time in Atacama. It has so much to offer. Maybe swim in the lagoon and see the salt flats another time. But my heart was full and I was ready for the next leg of my adventure. The Holiday Inn Airport hotel in Santiago was quite convenient for my stay while it was my pit stop for transit.

Maybe I could have booked direct flight to Puerto Natales for my journey south. But the bus journeys were pleasant and quite scenic. And my mobile network on the trip to Puerto Natales welcomed me to Argentina lol. I really enjoyed my stay in Puerto Natales. The tour, seeing Torres Del Paine was impressive. To my surprise there was a known friend from NJ i randomly met on the same tour who was staying at the exact same hotel, she was travelling with her family. It was an interesting coincidence.

Punta Arenas was very special. It is very hard to pick your favorite when all the experiences were amazing and so unique. But there was something special about this quaint place that resonated a lot with me. And probably topped it for my overall experience, when I had the king crab chowder in la luna restaurant there. It was a beautiful feeling to be at the edge of the world, so close to Antarctica and nature. Next day was the tour to see the Magellanic Penguins and sea lions. I made a little penguin friend, who happened to walk along a decent amount with me 🙂

I was ready to head back to Santiago next with my heart full again. I got to sleep through the flight to Easter island in a flatbed (wish I can always travel that way lol).

Easter island had a warm welcome at the airport with garlands along with the brisk warm air! The hotel was charming and I truly enjoyed the quiet time to recuperate. The tours were amazing, and the dinner/show was a unique experience. It reminded me alot of Hawaii, with the polynesian connection. Swimming on the beach with Moais as the backdrop was something.

The guides were all very knowledgeable throughout my trip, along with the transfers being timely. It was a very smooth, pleasant and rich experience overall. I hope it gives you a glimpse into my Chilean holiday.

I am glad I was able to take the time, and thanks a ton to you and your team for orchestrating a smooth and memorable trip to Chile for me. I will definitely pass on and recommend your company to my friends and will look forward to working with you for more South America travel!

Best,
Dakshina
