Welcome to the breathtaking island landscapes of Rapa Nui, a land of mystery, legend, and awe-inspiring archaeological wonders. Upon arrival, a transfer service will take us to our hotel, where we’ll have time to settle in before embarking on our first excursion.
Our journey begins at the Tahai ceremonial site, providing the perfect introduction to the island’s ancestral history. Here, we’ll admire the majestic restored Moai on three ceremonial platforms and encounter a rare Moai with original eyes, an archaeological treasure that adds an air of mystery to the experience.
Continuing our adventure, we visit Ahu Huri A Urenga, an ancient platform aligned with the summer solstice, before heading to Ahu Akivi, home to seven restored Moai that, according to legend, represent the first explorers to arrive on the island. At the Puna Pau quarry, we gain insight into the intricate craftsmanship behind the Moai’s conspicuous Pukao.
As the day draws to a close, we return to our hotel, filled with excitement for the discoveries that await us.
Day 2
Easter Island Discovery: Ahu, Quarries and Anakena
Breakfast, Lunch
Today’s journey begins at Vaihu, an unrestored Ahu where the fallen Moai offer a glimpse into the island’s past, whispering untold stories of a lost civilization. At Ahu Akahanga, steeped in legend, we stand in the place where King Hotu Matua is said to have been laid to rest, feeling the presence of Rapa Nui’s first settlers.
Next, we visit the Rano Raraku quarry, where the Moai were carved from volcanic stone. Frozen in time, these half-buried statues stand in silent testimony to the craftsmanship and devotion of their creators.
The journey continues to Ahu Tongariki, the island’s most awe-inspiring ceremonial platform, where 15 imposing Moai stand guard over the Pacific. We then stop at Ahu Te Pito Kura, home to the largest transported Moai ever erected, and the Navel of the World, a magnetic stone believed to hold spiritual energy.
Our day concludes at Anakena Beach, where pink-hued sand and turquoise waters offer a tranquil respite. Amid the restored platforms of Ahu Nau Nau and Ahu Ature Huki, we reflect on the island’s deep cultural and natural heritage before returning to the hotel for a well-earned rest.
Day 3
Rano Kau Volcano & Orongo
Breakfast
A thrilling ascent to Rano Kau awaits, where breathtaking views unfold over the island’s coastline, ancient volcanoes, and the village of Hanga Roa. At the summit, we marvel at the serene crater lagoon, a striking contrast to the volcanic power that once shaped this land.
Next, we explore the ceremonial village of Orongo, where the legendary Tangata Manu (Birdman) competition took place. As the ocean breeze carries echoes of ancient rituals, we stand at the edge of a dramatic cliff overlooking the islets where competitors once braved treacherous waters to retrieve a sooty tern egg.
At Ahu Vinapu, we discover remarkable stonework reminiscent of pre-Inca civilizations, suggesting a fascinating connection between distant cultures. Our final stop is the charming cove of Hanga Piko, where local fishermen continue age-old traditions against a backdrop of crystal-clear waters.
Returning to our hotel, we savor the final moments of this extraordinary island experience.
