Welcome to Chile
Lunch, Dinner
This magnificent travel experience begins as we arrive in Santiago, where the city’s vibrant energy welcomes us. As we are driven through the bustling streets, we catch glimpses of historic landmarks like Central Station and the Old Quarters, where colonial history and modern life intertwine. At La Moneda Palace, Chile’s presidential seat, we pause to admire its neoclassical grandeur before heading to Plaza de Armas, the heart of the city.
We delve into Santiago’s rich past, exploring the Metropolitan Cathedral, the National History Museum, and the Central Post Office, each revealing stories of Spanish conquest and cultural evolution. Our journey continues to Santa Lucía Hill, where Santiago was founded, offering a panoramic introduction to the city. After checking in at our hotel, we enjoy some leisure time to prepare for the adventures ahead.
Day 2
Valparaíso: Pacific Coast Charm
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Today, we set out towards the Pacific coast, where the colorful port city of Valparaíso awaits. This UNESCO World Heritage site enchants us with its steep hills, historic funiculars, and vibrant murals. At Plaza San Luis, we wander through picturesque streets adorned with striking street art, each mural reflecting the city’s bohemian soul.
A visit to Yugoslavo Viewpoint rewards us with breathtaking panoramic views, while the cobbled streets of Cerro Alegre invite us to soak in its artistic charm. As we stroll along Paseo Atkinson, past colonial mansions and the quaint Anglican Church, we are transported to another era.
After a lunch pause, we take time to explore at our own pace, browsing through local art and crafts shops. Our day concludes at Sotomayor Square, where the grandeur of the Navy building and the War of the Pacific monument stand as proud testaments to Chile’s maritime legacy. In the evening, we return to Santiago for a restful night.
Day 3
Port Discovery: Puerto Montt & Puerto Varas
Breakfast
A convenient transfer will take us from our hotel to the airport to board our flight to Puerto Montt, where the southern landscapes of Chilean Patagonia unfold before us. Our city tour begins at a scenic viewpoint, offering panoramic vistas of Tenglo Island and the Pacific Ocean. At Angelmó, a lively fisherman’s cove, we can connect with the local culture, exploring vibrant seafood markets and artisan stalls.
Continuing to Puerto Varas, also known as the City of Roses, we admire its charming German architecture, a legacy of European settlers. A visit to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, with its striking Baroque design, is followed by a relaxed lakeside stroll, where the tranquil waters of Llanquihue Lake mirror the snow-capped peaks of Osorno Volcano.
After checking in at our hotel, we enjoy an evening at leisure, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere of this picturesque town.
Day 4
Llanquihue Lake & Osorno Volcano
Breakfast
Today, we journey around Llanquihue Lake, discovering its rich cultural and natural wonders. In Frutillar, a charming town with strong German heritage, we wander past traditional wooden houses, artisanal breweries, and lush gardens that echo Bavaria’s old-world charm.
We then ascend the Osorno Volcano, its eternal snow-capped summit rising dramatically above the landscape. At the ski center, breathtaking panoramic views stretch from Llanquihue Lake to the Pacific Ocean, a reminder of Chile’s staggering natural beauty.
For those seeking an extra thrill, an optional chairlift ride offers an even higher vantage point, revealing a landscape shaped by volcanic forces.
As the sun begins to dip, we return to our hotel in Puerto Varas, our hearts full from a day of exploration in Chile’s stunning Lake District.
Day 5
Chiloé Island Exploration
Breakfast
Today, we embark on a ferry journey to the enchanting island of Chiloé. As we sail across the channel, keep an eye out for seabirds soaring above the waves. Upon arrival, the island’s unique charm unfolds before us—colorful stilt houses built from Alerce wood, centuries-old churches designated as National Heritage sites, and rich marine life along its shores.
A highlight of our visit is a boat excursion to Puñihuil, where we witness the remarkable coexistence of Magellanic and Humboldt penguins, where these two species nest side by side, making it an ecologically significant site. We then continue to Ancud, where we explore the historic San Antonio Fort, admire the architecture of local heritage churches, stroll through the Main Square, and browse the vibrant Central Market, filled with traditional crafts and culinary delights.
At the end of this remarkable day, we return to our hotel in Puerto Varas.
Day 6
Peulla Village and Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park
Breakfast
A day of breathtaking natural beauty awaits as we journey through Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park. Marvel at the striking silhouettes of Osorno, Puntiagudo, and Tronador volcanoes before visiting the powerful Saltos del Petrohué waterfalls, where turquoise waters cascade over ancient volcanic rock.
Next, we board a boat to navigate across the emerald waters of Todos Los Santos Lake, reaching the ecological village of Peulla. Here, we enjoy free time to explore at our own pace or opt for additional thrilling activities such as canopy tours, horseback riding, or fishing.
As the sun sets over the Andes, we return to Puerto Varas, holding the memories of a day filled with awe-inspiring landscapes and adventure.
